power spectral density meaning

Post by Giuliana ribeiro »

I am quite confused on why the mind monitor displays the results in db, could you give me the reason?

Also is the power spectral density associated or means the predominance of the brain wave? I am trying to draw conclusions for a research and for example, if my Alpha is in 80.0db and it is the highest value from the other five, does it means that my brain is in the Alpha state(with Alpha brainwave predominance)?

Thank you, I would a appreciate an urgent answer :)

Bels is used to describe anything that is the result of a logarithmic function.

Being in a brainwave "state" isn't really a thing, as all brainwave happen all the time, but yes; If your Alpha level is higher than all the other waves, this is what people refer to as being "in Alpha state".

Thank you a lot, does that mean the graph in mind monitor displays predominance of the brain waves over time?

Yes, the brainwave graph shows wave power over time.
