Units of Alpha Wave Strength

Post by Natsumi »

Hello.

In order to compare the strength of the alpha wave, if the Absolute Band Power, expressed in logarithm, is rewritten to linear data using the formula 10^alpha_absolute, what will be the units for this data?

Thanks.

You can use bels for anything that is the result of log math, but note that the units do not denote scale.

Thank you for your response! I understand that the logarithmic value (alpha_absolute) is expressed in bels. However, I am converting this value back to linear form using the formula:

10^{\text{alpha_absolute}}
What I would like to know is: What is the unit of the resulting value after this conversion?

I hope this clarifies my question.

There are no specific units for alpha_absolute before the operation and as such no specific unit after.
You can use bels, but it has little meaning other than implying logs were involved at some point in the math of the value. So you can use bels for the unit before and after the conversion.
