Eyelid fluttering

Hello again,

I'm not sure if anyone on here will be familiar with what I'm talking about, but there are certain healers and psychics whose eyelids flutter when they conduct their work. My thought was that a certain type of brainwave synchronization or brainwave hemisphere synchronization is at play when this happens.

Could this somehow be measured using Muse and the Mind Monitor app?

The Muse is designed to pick up tiny electric signals from the brain, but it will also pick up the much larger EMG muscle movement signals from facial muscle movement. When the eyes blink, or move sharply around, it creates a large spike in the RAW EEG making it impossible to read the brainwaves at that point. The software filters this out, but if there is constant facial muscle movement, then you can not read brainwaves as there is too much interference.
If you wanted to measure brainwave while this was happening, you'd need to place the electrodes under the skin, or on skin far away from the face.

Thank you... this is good to know, as this actually happens to me when I perform healing sessions, and I purchased my MUSE specifically to try to see what's happening in my brain when I do my healing work! Oops!

I have three followup questions about this:

1. How far away from the face would the electrodes need to be placed in order to not have the spike in the RAW EEG?

2. How would we know that electrodes placed on the skin far away from the face were measuring brainwaves, and not something else happening in the body?

3. What does EMG stand for?

Thanks again!

#1 - Even the ear electrodes still pick up blinks to some extent.
#2 - Brain electric signals are absoutely tiny. If there is something big happening, it's not EEG.
#3 - Electromyography.

Ok - thank you!
