Absolute vs. Relative?

Post by kpatterson »

Hey James,

I am a new user of Mind Monitor and was hoping that you could provide some insight on the software.
I understand that Muse 2 is used for mediation. However, I am using it for mediation/general monitoring of brainwaves for activity. So, I was wondering if I should be using the absolute graph or the relative graph to better understand my alpha brainwaves. I am really most interested in alpha brainwaves and if they increase while certain activities occur. For instance, if I am in a relaxed state but am experiencing two different sensations at different times throughout the recording - what would be the best graph to look at to compare both sensations inflicted alpha waves?

I am ultimately wanting to see if my alpha waves are higher at one sensation/smell/feel vs. another one.

Absolute and Relative basically show the same information, the difference is that the Relative graph is normalized to a standard 0-1 scale.
