Mellow/Concentration just track relative Alpha/Gamma. They're pretty terrible algorithms, which is likely why Interaxon removed them from the SDK:

@james, I'm having trouble finding the PPG data in the recorded file. I recorded a large session on an Android device and then uploaded the raw file to a Pandas dataframe. Here are all of the columns present. Mellow and concentration are present, so I think I enabled the extra variables correctly by tapping Mind-monitor 10 times.

Did I do something wrong?
Thanks!

Columns:

'TimeStamp', 'Delta_TP9', 'Delta_AF7', 'Delta_AF8', 'Delta_TP10',
'Theta_TP9', 'Theta_AF7', 'Theta_AF8', 'Theta_TP10', 'Alpha_TP9',
'Alpha_AF7', 'Alpha_AF8', 'Alpha_TP10', 'Beta_TP9', 'Beta_AF7',
'Beta_AF8', 'Beta_TP10', 'Gamma_TP9', 'Gamma_AF7', 'Gamma_AF8',
'Gamma_TP10', 'RAW_TP9', 'RAW_AF7', 'RAW_AF8', 'RAW_TP10', 'AUX_RIGHT',
'AUX_LEFT', 'Mellow', 'Concentration', 'Accelerometer_X',
'Accelerometer_Y', 'Accelerometer_Z', 'Gyro_X', 'Gyro_Y', 'Gyro_Z',
'HeadBandOn', 'HSI_TP9', 'HSI_AF7', 'HSI_AF8', 'HSI_TP10', 'Battery',
'Elements'

Check that PPG is enabled. Tap 10 times, then reconnect your Muse. If it is enabled, as well as data in the recording, you'll see it in the same screen as the Accelerometer/Gyro:

I just tested on both the Android and Apple version of the app to double check.
If you're using a Muse 2 or Muse S, you will see "PPG_Ambient, PPG_IR, PPG_Red, Heart_Rate" in the CSV data and you will also see in the OSC stream.
Make sure after you enable the setting that you disconnecct and reconnect your Muse. This is because the PPG sensor is enabled when the Muse connects.

Hello,

thank you for the updates! Sadly, I can't seem to activate PPG.

This is what I am doing:
1. Start App
2. Connect Muse
3. Open Settings
4. Scroll to the bottom, Tap on "Mind Monitor" 10 times (there is no feedback that anything happened after having tapped 10 times). https://imgur.com/a/Wn9Y1JV
5. Turn Off Muse
6. Turn On Muse, wait for connection
7. Muse is connected again, but here is still no PPG data.

Muse Model: Muse S-02
iPhone SE

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I already tried reinstalling the app, but that did not help.

When you tap "Mind Monitor" it will flash and after 10 flashes you will see popup with "Algorithms Enabled/Disabled". If you don't see that you didn't tap it enough times. Make sure your finger is tapping the blue text.

Ah, thank you! I probably was not tapping the blue text but somewhere on the button (it still flashes, but does not register the tap). Now it worked!

I have a follow-up question: Since the Pulse displayed in the app is not included in the OSC data, I need to calculate it. A short test showed, that I am receiving roughly 60 to 66 osc msgs/second from Mind Monitor. I tested my receiver with >200 msgs/second, so I assume that Mind Monitor sends at a lower speed?

PPG data is generated by the Muse at 64Hz.
